Clergy Day at the Capitol 2026
Attended by
Pastor Glenn and Elder Early
From: Lee May
Dear Pastors and Faith Leaders,
What an incredible day we experienced together during Clergy Day at the Capitol!
Seeing pastors, faith leaders, and congregations come together inside the Georgia State Capitol was a powerful reminder that the Church still has a voice, and the Church still has work to do.
From the Press Conference on the Capitol Steps, to our Leadership Lunch and Panel, to the Recognition inside the Senate Chambers, and finally our Prayer Gathering in the Rotunda, the presence of faith leaders across Georgia made a strong statement.
But as I shared during our time together, Clergy Day was not the finish line — it was the starting point.
The Acts 6 Model
During our gathering I lifted up Acts 6, where the early church faced growing needs within their community.
The apostles made a critical decision: “But we will give ourselves continually to prayer and to the ministry of the word.”
— Acts 6:4
They understood something that is still true today.
The Church must build structure to serve the community, while also remaining faithful to the call of preaching and teaching the Gospel.
In Acts 6, the church created new leadership roles so that the needs of the people could be met without abandoning the mission of the church. That same moment is before us now.
1. Action Step: Appoint a Voting Coordinator / Outreach Director
One of the most important next steps for every church represented at Clergy Day is to identify a Voting Coordinator or Outreach Director within your congregation.
This individual will help coordinate:
• Voter education
• Voter registration efforts
• Community outreach initiatives
• Civic information for members
• Coordination with statewide faith initiatives
This role allows pastors to remain focused on prayer and the Word, while ensuring the community remains informed and engaged.

We will begin coordinating efforts across the state with these leaders.
2. Legislative Update: Georgia Legislative Black Caucus
During Clergy Day we also discussed the importance of understanding the legislation that is impacting our communities.
Attached you will find the House Bill Summary from the Georgia Legislative Black Caucus, which outlines key legislation currently moving through the General Assembly.
We encourage every pastor and faith leader to review this summary and share relevant information with your congregations and communities.
3. Update: Live Free Love Free
We also want to keep you connected with the important work happening through Live Free, which continues to organize faith leaders around issues impacting our communities.

Moving Forward Together
Clergy Day reminded us of something powerful.
When faith leaders come together in unity, our voice becomes stronger, our witness becomes clearer, and our communities become better.
Now is the time to build the structures, partnerships, and leadership pipelines that will allow the Church to serve our communities faithfully and effectively.
Just like in Acts 6.
Thank you again for your leadership, your faithfulness, and your willingness to stand up for our communities. I look forward to continuing this work together. Be on the look out for the SAVE THE DATE ANNOUNCEMENT for Clergy Day 2027!
Grace and Peace,
Pastor Lee May
